I’m very much the smooth and shiny, polished manicure type of girl. China Glaze has a new Textured nail polish collection that offers a different finish for your manicure. It was actually a bit too different for my liking. I cringe when a hair or small particle interrupts the feel and look of my newly polished nails, but I tried the textured look anyway.
First of all, a successful manicure is one where the polish covers your entire nail bed but doesn’t end up on your cuticles. Since the polish includes these textured particles I wasn’t able to accomplish this, but I tried. I was miserable! After putting my top coat on, the particles didn’t allow for a nice shine, instead I was left with more of a matte dull color. The colors themselves are pretty, the stand-out colors of the collection include Toe-Tally Textured (pictured), Unrefined (pink) and In the Rough (a lime green.) I’m just not sold on the bumpiness.
I think this would be something cool for my 6 year old, I’ll be sure to use it on her. Maybe other ladies might also like this novel idea, in place of nail art. In fact, doing just the ring finger with textured polish and the others a regular smooth polish would be a great idea. You would get not only a pop of a different color, but also a change in texture without it being too much.
Call me old school, but for now I have to stick to my plain old polish, no grittiness added.
