Trésor Midnight Rose by Lancome

Inspired by the cobblestone streets of Paris, Trésor Midnight Rose embodies a mischievous sense of femininity. The sweet floral, created by perfumer Anne Flipo, is encased in a faceted bottle that blushes powder pink to violet, with an elegant satin rosette at the neck. The notes of raspberry, rose, vanilla and sensual musk combine for a seductive candied scent.

I have to say that once I read the notes of this scent I was intrigued.  Raspberry, vanilla, and sensual musk? Sounded great, but the one scent that was throwing me off was the rose.  I absolutely hate the scent of rose.  However, I'm pleased to say that after trying this scent I do not smell the rose at all and the scent is quickly becoming one of my favorites.  It's sweet but not overly done and it's extremely girly which I love in a scent.

Here are the official notes of Trésor Midnight Rose:
  • Tangy notes of raspberry add sparkle to petals of jasmine and peony freshened by blackcurrant bud absolute and intense pink pepper
  • Deep, intense ribbons of rose absolute form the familiar middle notes of Trésor
  • Voluptuous vanilla mingles with musk and Virginia cedar essence for a captivating dry down
Where to sniff & purchase: 1 oz. ($44), 1.7 oz. ($56), and 2.5 oz. ($75) EDP spray, on Lancôme counters and lancome.com

Break the Cycle: Skip Dry Skin this Winter

Colder weather and dry skin are like synonymous but this winter I'm working hard to change that.  Keeping skin moisturized from the inside and on the outside is key, but one thing I refuse to change is my nice hot showers and baths.  These two things soothe my soul, okay that might be a tad bit extreme but they of relax me and soothe my achy muscles so they have to stay.  Not to mention, a lukewarm shower in the middle of the winter is less than appealing.  So, to combat the dryness that comes with really hot showers and baths I'm changing around my products and using a different approach when it comes to moisturizing post-shower.

First of all, I've changed up my soaps and body washes.  Now I'm using more moisturizing formulas, like Dove Ultra Rich Velvet Cream Oil Body Wash.  Not only does this gently cleanse my skin it moisturizes at the same time.

Once I get out the shower, I pat dry and then moisturize my skin immediately.  Before I used to dry off and wait a while before I slathered lotion on.  The key here is sealing in the moisture from the shower.  My favorite lotion for providing moisture is Keri Shea Butter Lotion.  This lotion really moisturizes deeply and lasts all day long.  No one wants to have to keep applying lotion to their legs and arms, with this lotion you don't need to.

For my lips, I have a different lip balm (not gloss) in every location possible.  There's at least one in my purse, coat pocket, car, locker at work, bedside table, couch cushion, you name it! For a lip balm, I look for something that is going to actually moisturize my lips not just coat them.  Some of my favorites are Yu-Be, 3Lab Perfect Lips, Bliss Fabulips, Snog Balm

As a nurse, my hands are quite possibly the driest part of my body, in any given day I probably wash my hands 10x more than the average person.  This is why, I'm always on the hunt for the perfect hand cream and I keep hand cream everywhere just like lip balm.  I'm always writing about different hand creams, but one of my all time favorites is Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Hand Cream.

Now the newest member of the keep me moisturized team is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.  This cream makes the team because it's provides great moisture to the most sensitive area, my face.  The skin on my face has certain spots that love to dry out, but at the same time my skin is extremely sensitive.  If you look at it wrong I'll get a hive in no time, but extremely soothing and causes no hives and since it also creates a barrier against the elements it's perfect for use when you will be outside for an extended period of time.

Whiter Teeth From a Toothpaste?

Your smile is probably one of the first things a person notices when they look your way.  A bright white smile is always in style and is always going to be one of the most coveted attributes.  This is probably why so many different toothpaste brands are creating whitening toothpastes, but my favorite so far is Colgate Optic White Toothpaste.

The reason why this toothpaste works better than other drugstore whitening toothpastes is because it contains Hydrogen Peroxide, the same ingredient as the white strips that you put on your teeth. Most of the other options out there have Silica, which only lightens surface stains.  So to get the most bang for your buck, pick up Colgate Optic White Toothpaste instead.  The bright red packaging will definitely stand out on the shelf.

The only downside is that you have to use the product for at least a good month to start seeing the brightening effects.  If you need a super quick fix, head to your dentist for a cleaning and whitening in the office.  In fact, you should probably get that done first and then use this toothpaste as a way to keep up the whitening effects longer.

Better Looking Armpits with Dove?

Here is an update that is long overdue.  Remember way back when, when I told you guys that I was using Dove's Ultimate Go Sleeveless deodorant?  If not, here is the link.  Anyway, I'm still using that deodorant because it smells good and it works to keep me smelling good, if you know what I mean.  Plus, it is gentle on my armpits.  My armpits have a tendency to act up, meaning go dark if I irritate them with harsh products.  So it's been well over three months and I haven't had one issue with this deodorant, but I must say I have not noticed any big difference in the skin under my arms.  Other than it being gentle, it has not improved the texture of the skin or improved the appearance of my armpits.  I mean really, it's an armpit!  But if you are looking for a gentle armpit that won't cause any skin issues under there like other deodorants can then this is a good option.
