Natural Deodorant: Hugo Naturals

(Hugo Naturals Deodorant, $7.00 Health & Natural food stores)

The beauty of working 12 hour shifts is that I have several days off during the week.  On my days off I like to spend my time doing different things, but mainly I love spending time around my apartment catching up on my favorite shows, writing, reading other blogs, and just doing nothing.  So when I tried Hugo Naturals Deodorant I was pleasantly surprised that it actually seemed to work great for me.  The Sea Fennel and Passion flower scent was really pretty but overwhelming and it did not irritate my armpits at all, even after shaving.

Fast forward a few days and I'm applying the natural deodorant to my armpits before work without a second thought.  I get to work and it's like every pregnant person within 50 miles decided it was time to go to the hospital and they happened to pick the one I work at.  Needless to say, I was running around crazy for 12 whole hours non stop without a break.  My fellow RNs know exactly the type of night I'm talking about, you know the one where in the morning you realize you have to pee and have been holding it so long you've forgotten exactly when the urge first hit.  In the morning when I was changing back into my 'street' clothes to go home, it hit me.  P-U... I needed to shower ASAP and use a not so natural deodorant.  Hugo Naturals Deodorant is good for lounging around and stress free days, but it's definitely not cut out for a crazy busy nurse who's running all night.

Glo Therapeutics Tretinol Serum Review

With all this talk about skin care regimens and anti aging solutions, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a product review on Glo Therapeutics Tretinol 0.5% Serum.  I've been using it for about 3-4 weeks now and I'm very pleased with the results so far.

What it is: A serum that is formulated to reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation with a patented retinoid complex while promoting circulation for a more luminous complexion. Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while preventing new wrinkles to form. Helps resurface and rejuvenate skin, resulting in a clearer more vibrant moisturized complexion. Reverses signs of aging by naturally boosting collagen and elastin reproduction, stimulates cell renewal and increases healthy circulation for a youthful glo.

Who should try it:  This product is recommended for all skin types except acne prone.  Now while I would not call my skin necessarily acne prone, I do have the occasional breakout and as a matter of fact when I started using this product I was experiencing a major breakout and I feel as though this product did nothing but help the situation.

Beauty Blvd. Official Word:  Here is a scenario in which reading the instructions can save you a lot of heartbreak.  When I first started using this product I was using it twice a day, which is a big no-no.  The directions specifically state use it once a day (at night) anywhere between 2-7 times a week.  I didn't read it and ended up with some mild peeling, but even though my skin was peeling it was glowing.  My complexion is brighter and clearer, the dark spots from that crazy breakout and fading faster than ever before and I'm giving all the credit to this serum.

The consistency of this serum is awesome.  It feels like a makeup primer when you apply it and it spreads very easily over the entire face and sinks in right away.  This product is a complete win for me.  It addresses all the issues I'm working on avoiding, which are fine lines and wrinkles, increasing the natural glow of my skin, and getting rid of dark spots.

Skin Care Challenge

Skin care is an essential part of the beauty lifestyle and when I say beauty lifestyle I mean it.  Beauty is a lifestyle, it spills over into what you eat, how you choose to live your life, and what you do all effect a persons beauty.  My main focus is always skin care.  Sure makeup is the more fun of the two, but skin care has a more lasting effect.

Naturally glowing skin is always going to look better than a face full of foundation, concealer, and bronzer that creates a faux glow.  Which is why I challenge all my readers to make a change in their bad skin habits.  If you don't alway wash your face before bed, trying doing it religiously for a month and see the difference it makes in your skin.  Are you not consistent with your skin care regimen?  Buckle down and get it together for a full two-three months.  I promise you will see a change if you are using the correct products for your skin and are consistently using them.

With skincare consistency is the key.  We will in a society that focuses on and praises instant gratification, but skin care takes time.  Think about it this way, an eighty year old woman doesn't just wake up one day with a face full of wrinkles.  It takes years to get to that point.  So why should a skin care regimen erase your face full of  problems with one use?  The bottom line is it won't and if you are expecting it to then you are a fool.  Sorry to be so blunt, but it's the truth.  People go from skin care regimen to skin care regimen within weeks to months wondering why nothing works for their skin.  Well hello beautiful, you didn't give it time to work!

Anti Aging Skin Care Regimen

So my 26th birthday is right around the corner and I'm really starting to think about an anti-aging skin care regimen. I've been dabbling in anti-aging products for a while now but I haven't been too consistent. Now, I have to really get on the boat because I'm trying to age like Stacey Dash. She looks amazing right? She does.not.age. PERIOD.

So ladies, share your favorite anti-aging products!

Don't Forget Your Feet

Just because it's September doesn't mean you should just forget about your feet. Aubrey Organics has two great products to keep your feet soft and touchable this fall, just both products are under $10.00
Aubrey Organics Neat Feet Foot Scrub ($8.67) deodorizes, helps to eliminate calluses, and scrubs away rough, dry skin, leaving your feet feeling clean and refreshed.

Aubrey Organics Feet Relief Massage Cream ($9.72) rejuvenates and locks in moisture with an all natural formula that includes organic cayenne pepper, menthol, and organic eucalyptus oil. Plus it has a slight warming effect, how awesome is that?!?

Another great tool is the Emjoi Micro-Pedi ($40.00). It features two different rollers that essentially work to buff away dry hard skin on your feet. It's easy to use and works wonders, it's way better than a regular pumice stone and it works faster too.
