Who really has the power? 50 Cent Power vs Kenzo Power

With the release of 50 Cent's new fragrance Power, I couldn't help but think of one of my boyfriends favorite scents, Kenzo Power. You might remember me mentioning that Power by Kenzo was my favorite scent for my boyfriend in this fragrance guide for men. To this day, I still love it when he wears Kenzo. Kenzo Power features woody amber but there is a hint of something floral there, but don't take this hint of floral for softness because you'd be sadly mistaken, it's 100% masculine, yet not burly and overbearing. Not that this matters to men at all, but the bottle is sleek, simple, yet strikingly modern.

I knew right off the top, that my boyfriend wouldn't be interested in Power by 50 Cent just because 50 Cent was associated with the scent. He really isn't into pop culture like that so a celebrity scent isn't going to catch his eye, my 14 year old brother on the other hand? Forget it, he wanted it just because 50 Cent was attached to the product. Once the actual product was in hand, my boyfriend (and I) both thought it was just okay. My brother and his friends? Loved it! To drive that home, my mother says my brother has been wearing it to school every single day since I gave it to him. How she knows? My mom works nights so she get's home around 12pm and his room is still smelling like 50 Cent Power, HA!

I wanted to sniff for myself, so I headed to my parents and sure enough his room smelled as if I'd stepped right into the bottle. That's when it hit me! Power by 50 Cent reminded me of my childhood, it was eerily reminiscent of a candy my babysitter used to give me. She was probably in her 60's then and we all called her Nana. That candy? Choward's Violet Candies. Just like the site says, it's an old classic ... smells and tastes like violets.

The winner? Kenzo Power ! Although, ask a 14 year old boy and he might beg to differ.

I remember Violets so well. I normally have to buy them by the case. That smell definitely takes me back! Glad you're back too! I stopped by your site last week. Enjoy the holidays!
