Prevention Defy Your Age Awards + Giveaway
Last week I headed into the city after a grueling 16 hours of work to stop by the Prevention Magazine, Defy Your Age Party. I'm glad I skipped on sleep and made it to the event, because unlike other magazines where the editors just pick their favorite products to awards Prevention actually put the products through tests to determine what work and what didn't.
Here's how it worked: Prevention selected 35 of today's leading anti-aging products and tested them in two ways: First, each product was used by five women over age 40 for up to 8 weeks, and the testers shared their opinion about the effectiveness of each product. A top dermatologist then analyzed their skin, and the facial products were evaluated with state-of-the-art equipment like the Visia Complexion Analysis machine, which takes and compares before-and-after photos to detect improvement. The results: 7 facial products that live up to their claims to reduce fine lines, brown spots, dark circles, and more. And each winner costs less than $50!

Hand Cream: Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Age Shield Hand Cream SPF 30: This cream smoothes fine lines and keeps hands soft with heavy-duty humectants and emollients; potent UV protection helps stave off future damage. ($6; drugstores)
Eye Cream: Skin Effects by Dr. Jeffrey Dover Cell 2 Cell Anti-Aging Eye Treatment: Made with hyaluronic acid, peptides and dermaxyl (a nonirritating synthetic retinoid), this cream decreases wrinkles, brown spots, and under eye darkness. ($15; CVS pharmacy)
